Bolaffi's history started that year, when a very young Alberto Bolaffi, born into an important family of precious stone and ostrich feather merchants, decided to abandon the family tradition with pioneering spirit to embark on the business of philately. His devotion was continued with legendary passion by his son Giulio and then with brave initiative by his grandson Alberto, at the helm of the company today while the fourth generation is preparing to bring renewed ingenuity to the company business.
Faithful to the motto "History for us is a collector's item", Bolaffi in the meantime became a joint-stock company and today, in addition to all sectors of stamp-collecting, encompasses the entire sphere of collections in Italy and worldwide. With a staff of over one hundred, we still firmly believe in developing the most pleasant way of spending one's leisure time in direct contact with the objects and tokens that have made the history of mankind.
The building that houses the company's head office is situated in the old town of Turin, Italy, in Via Cavour 17. Five storeys of administrative, management and sales offices, in addition to a large showroom where coin, stamp and period poster auctions are twice a year and where exhibitions of Italian artists are organised all year round.
The famous Kanguro covers and the many products in our collector's accessory range are made in our lofty, 3,500 square metres plant: state-of-the-art equipment and great professionalism ensure the best quality and constant product quality control. Collector's items are prepared for sending in-house to ensure fast and always accurate management of the service.
We have always devoted special attention to collectors in the four Bolaffi shops in Turin (in the company's head office building), in Milan (300 square metres in a building owned by the company in Via Manzoni close to the Teatro alla Scala), in Rome (in the world-famous Via Condotti) and in Verona.
